The life's meal
A simple act of kindness can lead to large change. Lit the lamp and be the change. I had lit mine and hope to spread more light. And here goes my story of a day when god blessed me something small but great in my life. Small or big its from god so the feeling will be always inexplicable. So, finally the most awaited day for me had arrived on October 16, which I will always remember in my life. Hope this will be the first step of my dream in my life. I was waiting all my life to start living which many people wish to do, but in a different way what many hesitate to do. I love to spread happiness and love in life of as many people as possible. Since my childhood the only thing which left me happy and satisfied is to see someone smiling because of me. I really really want to be on ground to lift at least ones life in my entire life.
It has been a nice experience in volunteering in NGO's which has been a very good platform for me to meet new people and learn new things to develop myself as a complete person. As I was always looking to help people by directly contacting them and knowing their needs, I was longing for one such opportunity in my life. The day came as a blessing when I got an opportunity to help a visually challenged boy to write his exam. I was really really excited for the day to arrive. I was preparing myself just like anyone who prepare for a big day. I literally couldn't wait for the day to come. As there is a belief that good things come along with rain if it rains on a big day in anybodies life. When the day arrived it was a pleasant weather which anyone want in this busy days.
I hit the clock early that day and was preparing for the journey. I made sure to keep that day busy and productive. I thanked the almighty for granting me my wish. I got up that day and refreshed myself, completed few of my daily works. I then packed my bag and got ready to go. The day was filled with breeze and calmness as god watched his plan to be executed. I called the boy's mom to confirm the venue and time. It was 1.15 P.M when I reached the college (Government arts and science college, Salem). As mine was a small town yet to start some good deed of this kind. I felt proud and happy to keep my first step in my own town as a direct volunteer. I had entered the college with more butterflies over my head. I felt like flying though I was not doing something big but since it was my first step to my big dream to let hands to needy. So, I finally met the boy and his mother who had million stars in their eyes which we normal people can't see. Both of them were kind and soft spoken. I took him through the staircase which let to a big exam hall.
We sat there for quite some time before the start of the exam. Then the exam begin. It was one of his major paper "Ikaala elakkiyam" (Tamil) which means modern time literature. As he started dictating I was listening and writing. I saw mixed set of student in the hall who either knew answers to the paper they are about to give or who came just to meet friends and have fun or who just to finish the exam and run home.
There I could see this boy as someone who is trying to beat the odd and give his best in his life. I was so touched by the gesture of the boy when he said all he wanted is to help the who come to write exam for him by reducing their work. He want to finish the exam soon only to make sure I reach home before it pours down. I was so touched by those kind words. But then I tried cheering up him to write whatever he had prepared.
We were there writing exams even when all the students left the hall before the exam time was over. He was so happy to write his exam peacefully without any hurry. The time we had completed the exam he was so happy. Then I took the boy to his mom and waved bye. Though I met him once and this the first time for me scribe for someone, I felt happy and started pestering god for more and more opportunities to live my life up to my dreams.
Happy to be the vision for someone in need!! Thankful for letting my soul for having a good meal!!
