Three Spirited Souls

Life has always been a wonderful journey. With a few twists here and a few turns there, there is really nothing to complain. Maybe because I have eventually learned how to rock and roll with every new step and phase in life. For me, every day is a new day, quite literally. Facing new challenges, same faces with a new outlook on a daily basis can be a little too difficult and confusing for some. But I take it all with a broad smile, both inside and outside. That's important, not for an attempt to make everyone happy but for an honest effort to make my own self happy and contented.

My recent trip to the beautiful island of Penang was one such occasion filled with happiness, understanding and the spirits of life. It was a long holiday of four days. So I decided to make the most of it by sharing and enjoying two days of it with my two spirited friends from work. Spirited because they understand and know how to celebrate the minutest joys of life. In other words, we had a blast!

We started late evening from Perlis to Penang to drop Bao at her new home in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She is going to be a student again after so many years of a working life she lived. Indeed, I am a bit jealous of her right now: she is going to live the candid life a student has the complete right to enjoy. It simply reminds me of my JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) days. Those were the best days when I found the window of knowledge that opens to so many doors of new opportunities in an unlimited way. Bao too is going to have such a life. I wish her all the best for everything in life.

Well, the best part of the trip was not just the serene beach of Batu Ferringhi. I love the fact that we were in our true selves back there - some thing we are sincere enough to do all the time. Thanks to the enthusiastic Afifah, the spirited souls decided to let their hair down at Sephora. Before these girls, I hardly used to even visit any cosmetics store. Not that I didn't like it then, maybe I needed girls to convince me that indulging in the outer beauty is also important to its inner counterpart at times. Because we want to take care of our body, mind and soul religiously. And then we ended up shopping a bit. Well, it extended a bit for me and Bao as we also shopped at our favorite VS Outlet. The place is so great for clothes unique and dessert to our soul. Now I can say if happiness lies in money somewhere, we know how to buy it and make the soul happy!

I don't wish to write all details of happiness we shared together on that trip for the simple fact that it is always good to keep something for yourself to indulge. I would like to call that 'giving space' to my own self. Meanwhile, happy traveling!

P.S. I know what balance means in life. 'Un-' and 'Over-' are unnecessary concepts for me and I avoid them at all costs.
